Community Zine Project
Alongside Steffanni's exhibition, God-Shaped Hole, Edward developed a community-engaged project to complement his interest in queer history and archives by creating a zine sourced from local queer community members related to concealment and identity. Gallery visitors and students were invited to contribute to a queer archive online and in composition books provided in the gallery. Students of Hollins University and Roanoke community members generously submitted collages, coming out stories, poetry, and more. These contributions were compiled into a zine format and printed with screenprinting and handmade paper by the artist. Zines were distributed to the contributors and the museum collection.
Steffanni hopes to continue this zine project as the work from God-Shaped Hole continues to be exhibited.
